Are you concerned about the well-being or future well-being of your children? If so this FREE event is for you and your family. Children in the UK came bottom of the league in a recent Unicef report for child well-being. Children are spending too much time in front of screens and surrounded by ‘things’. This is influencing their well-being. It’s time to take a stand against this culture of MORE. The Unicef report revealed that what children really want to make them happy is more time outdoors and with their parents, not more technology and belongings. This event is looking at how to counteract the impact of materialism on child well-being, through engaging in outdoor pursuits. Dr Carol Craig from the Glasgow based think tank The Centre for Confidence and Well-being will be giving the opening talk on this topic. There will be workshops for children led by forest school educators on connecting children with nature. There will be stalls selling second hand outdoor gear and stalls hosted by many local outdoor organisations. All of this and more. We hope this event will be the first step in supporting and encouraging local people to get outside more. Everyone is welcome.
